Dara Singh to appeal against life imprisonment

Baripada,Oct 29 (UNI) Dara Singh, who was convicted and sentenced to life in the murder of garment trader Seikh Rahaman, will go for an appeal against the judgment in Orissa High Court.

Apparently looking unperturbed, Dara Singh told the newsmen outside the District and Sessions judge court here that he had anticipated life imprisonment for the third time.

Presently lodged in the Baripada Circle jail, Dara Singh had already been convicted and sentenced to life in the Graham Staines and Arul Doss murder cases.

Dara Singh's counsels Pravash Das and Asit Hota said the conviction and sentence were based on the sole testimony of Grama Rakshi, Mukunda Nayak who worked under the Thakurmunda police station.

They too said they would prefer an appeal before Orissa High Court and pray that the orders of the District and Sessions Judge be set aside.
