Jammu, Oct 28: A local TADA/POTA court has acquitted a suspected militant of all charges as prosecution witnesses, including eye-witnesses, turned hostile.

Third Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Sanjay Gupta, yesterday acquitted accused Azad Ahmed of Sunai in Surankote (Poonch), who was facing trial under 3 PSS Act and 3/7 RPC, after the prosecution failed to prove him guilty.

Ahmed was arrested in connection with the July 10, 2005 grenade attack on the army wherein three civilians were wounded.

The court, after hearing Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State and advocate B R Gupta appearing for the accused, observed that in totality of circumstances, there was no incriminating material which can be put to the accused for getting explanation, because all the witnesses have turned hostile.

The SP, Central Jail, directed to release Ahmed if he was not required in any other case.
