PHED staff to go on strike from tomorrow in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 27 (UNI) The Public Health Engineering department (PHED) employees is likely to go on strike from tomorrow to protest against the abduction of three officials by suspected Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) cadres.

Sources here today said the employees had staged a sit in protest in front of the PHED office here for the release of the three officials.

The three PHED officials-- L Ibomcha, O Meino, and N Opendro -- were kidnapped by suspected KRA cadres on October 12 from Moirangpurel in Imphal East.

The PHED strike might affect the water supply in the state, sources said.
