Rae Bareli/Banda, Oct 27 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and party general secretary Amar Singh today met slain dreaded dacoit Dadua's brother Bal Kumar and son Veer Singh, lodged in the Rae Bareli and Banda district jails respectively.

Reports from Rae Bareli said the SP leaders met Shiv Kumar at the district jail, who is lodged since June 12 in the disproportionate assets case.

Sympathising with Kumar, they said in unison that ''he will surely get rid of his present condition, if SP was voted back to power in UP.'' Mr Yadav asked the police to stop being hand-in-glove with the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) or else be ready to be jailed, if he returns as UP Chief Minister.

''Till when Dadua's family was with BSP, no voice was raised. The moment they joined SP, Dadua was declared a hardened criminal. I do not want to know about the action taken against the several history-sheeters, but, I surely want an explanation regarding the fake criminal cases registered against Kumar after Dadua's encounter,'' the former UP CM noted.

Terming action against Kumar as part of ''caste harassment'', Mr Singh added any atrocity on Kurmi community would not be tolerated.

Drawing parallels between former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and UP CM Mayawati, he said when people did not forgive the late Prime Minister for despotism, the BSP supremo is not even worth comparing to her.

Meanwhile, a report from Banda said the SP leaders also met Veer Singh, who is Dadua's son and Chitrakoot district panchayat president, and assured him justice.
