DD Bangalore to pay homage to soldiers

'Smarananjali',
a
cultural
programme
to
pay
homage
to
soldiers
from
Karnataka,
who
were
killed
while
defending
the
country
and
fighting
terrorists
in
the
last
two
years.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Doordarshan Kendra Director Mahesh Joshi said the four-hour-long programme would pay lyrical tributes to those martyrs.
Eminent singers from the state would sing patriotic songs as part of the programme, which would be held in coordination with the Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement and Bangalore University.
Dr Joshi said the programme would be telecast live on DD-1 (Karnataka Regional Channel) and DD-Chandana.
Leading artistes performing in the 'Smarananjali' included playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, AIR artistes L Subramaniam, Chandrika Gururaj, choreographers Maya Rao and Madhu Nataraj, Vyjayanthi Kashi and Kodava Warrior.
Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur would be the Chief Guest of the programme.
