Bihar borders sealed after naxal attack

Bihar's
border
with
Jharkhand
was
sealed
following
todays
extremist
attack
at
Chalkhari
village
in
Giridih
district
which
claimed
17
lives.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, before leaving for Delhi, instructed the Director General of Police to immediately launch a combing operation in joint cooperation with the Jharkhand police. He asked the state authorities to be alert and keep a constant vigil on the borders adjoining Jharkhand as the extremists might sneak into Bihar.
Mr Kumar also spoke to his counterpart in Jharkhand Madhu Koda and discussed the security strategies. He assured him of all possible measures in fighting the extremist menace and mourned the deaths.
Mr Kumar also spoke to former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi, whose son Anup was among the victims, and prayed to God to give him strength to bear the trauma.
Meanwhile, sources at the state headquarters said elaborate security arrangements were been made to foil any attempt by ultras in Bihar.
The district magistrates and police superintendents of districts adjoining Jharkhand were asked to remain alert and keep a close watch on border movements.
