AP to provide water to 45.26 lakh acres in Telangana: CM
Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said water would be provided to 45.26 lakh acres of land in Telangana region for irrigation in next four years.
In an official release here, Dr Reddy said about 4.76 lakh acres of land in Telangana was brought under the massive 'Jalayagnam' programme in the last three years.
He said his government was committed to take up ''Pranahita-Chevella'' irrigation project on Godavari river, at the cost of Rs 18,000 crore, to provide water to Adilabad, Karim Nagar, Medak, Nizamabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
Ali Sagar lift irrigation project, implemented to provide water to 54,000 acres of land in Nizamabad district, would be inaugurated tomorrow, the release added.
