A record 1.2 million rural students participate in IT Quiz

Bangalore, Oct 27 (UNI) In the biggest IT quiz programme ever, a record 1.2 million students from rural Karnataka participated in the annual IT Quiz organised by the Department of IT, BT, Science and Technology of Karnataka.

The state level rural IT quiz final will be held as part of the Asia's premier ICT event at IT on October 30 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). The event was being conducted for the eighth consecutive year, according to a release here today.

The quiz was conducted in four phases. Top 50 teams from each district participated in the Regional level finals conducted from October 15 to 24.

The six teams, who have qualified for the State finals were: Mukhtar Ahmed and Laxman D R of Sainik School Bijapur, Mallikarjun B K and Rudrappa R G of Government PU College Gokak Nithish B and Rajath V S of Sri Aurobindo PU College Shimoga P Srithilak and K Shreyas of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kolar Kriti Y C and Sneha V of Carmel Convent Mandya and Meryl Likhita Lewis and Anushree N of Little Rock Udupi.

The winners would battle for the State championship and the TCS cash scholarship with the first prize being Rs 70,000, second prize Rs 35,000 and third prize Rs 20,000. The quizmaster for the event is Giri Balasubramaniam.
