26 persons arrested in twin blasts case: Home Minister

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Denying allegations that police was harassing Muslim youth after the bomb blasts, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today said 26 people were arrested so far in connection with the August 25 twin blasts in the city, which claimed over 40 lives.

Talking to newspersons after a review meeting with top police officials here, Mr Reddy said of the 65 persons interrogated by the police in connection with the blasts, 26 were arrested.

He said the 22 Bangladeshis, who were arrested for overstaying and possessing fake passports, were being questioned in connection with the blasts.

A special cell would be set up at the City Police Commissioner office to provide information on the cases registered under terrorist Acts, he said.

To a query, Mr Reddy said the government had not received the report of state Minorities Commission on the alleged harassment and arrest of Muslim youth after the blasts in the city.
