Over 24 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 26 (UNI) Over 24.88 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana of which 14.80 lakh metric tonnes have been procured by six government agencies.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said HAFED had procured 6.10 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 4.72 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 1.88 lakh MTs, Confed 1.54 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 49,476 MTs and Food Corporation of India 4981 MTs.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Kurukshetra district was on the top in arrival of paddy in the state with 5.78 lakh MTs, followed by Karnal 4.58 lakh MTs, Fatehabad 3.85 lakh MTs, Kaithal 2.91 lakh MTs, Ambala 2.13 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 1.49 lakh MTs and Sirsa 1.04 lakh MTs.

Mr Chander Mohan said the payment to the farmers was being made within 48 to 72 hours and a sum of Rs 985 crore had been arranged for the payment of paddy to the farmers.
