Two shot dead, minister's house attacked
Imphal, Oct 25 (UNI) Violence continued to plague Manipur as fresh reports of two killings and attack on a minister residence arrived this capital today.
During dring the past 24 hours, two people were shot dead, a house of a minister was bombed forcing the Manipur's ministerial cabinet to convene an emergency meeting and discussed the law and order situation.
Police said suspected Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) ultras also planted a bomb near the office of the Director of Social Welfare, whichwas defused by a bomb squad.
A youth identified as Lalboi was today shot dead at Sadar Hills, Senapati district by unknown armed criminals.
A suspected militant was gunned down by Imphal East commandos near Mahaballi Youth Club (MYL), Imphal East.
A police team had chased two ultras on a bike and there was a brief encounter near the Chief Minister's official residence resulting death of a militant. The other person fled. One M 20 pistol and three live rounds were recovered from the slain cadre.
In another incident suspected militants fired at the residence of Social Welfare Minister N Loken at Leimapokpam, Bishenpur district, late yesterday. No one was injured in the attack.
Another suspected militant had placed a bomb near the door of the office chamber of the Director of Social Welfare, A Nabachandra, Imphal, late yesterday when office was almost vacant. The bomb was later taken away by police and defused.
Manipur Governor SS Sidhu has also called Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to discuss the deteriorating law and order in Manipur on Tuesday.
Later the Chief Minister had convened a cabinet meeting after discussing law and order sitaution with Director General of Police, Y Joykumar to review the prevailing situation.
The Cabinet expressed concerned over deteriorating the law and order situation and the frequent bandhs and blockades in Manipur.
