Mumbai, Oct 25 (UNI) The defence continued to pick holes in the investigations carried out in the Pramod Mahajan murder case.

Deposing before additional sessions judge S P Davare, investigation officer A I Meckwan admitted that there were mistakes while recording dates in the statements of witnesses.

Defence counsel H H Ponda wanted to know from Meckwan whether the police had recorded the statement of Ms Rekha Mahajan, Poonam Mahajan-Rao and others after the funeral of Pramod Mahajan, the officer replied in the negative.

Mr Ramakanth Dhobale, another investigation officer while deposing before the court, said he had not taken the mobile phone belonging to Pramod Mahajan in his custody. It is only after the court's permission that he had taken the phone in his custody on April 15, this year. Pramod Mahajan's brother-in-law and BJP leader, while deposing before the court, had said that accused Pravin Mahajan had sent threatening SMS to Pramod Mahajan.

To a question by special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam, the investigation officer said after taking the mobile phone in his custody and after recording the statement of Pramod Mahajan's daughter Poonam Rao, he had filed a supplementary chargesheet on April 17 this year.
