Burglars decamp with 200 sovereigns of gold jewellery

Chennai, Oct 25 (UNI) In a major heist, burglars struck at a house of a businessman and decamped with 200 sovereigns of gold jewellery and cash at Kilpauk area in the city late last night.

Police said the thieves gained entry into the house of businessman Chandran, by removing the air conditioner.

When the burglars were leaving the house, the businessman's wife Chandra woke up on hearing some sound.

As she tried to raise an alarm, the burglars pushed her down and made good their escape.

Special police teams were formed to nab the culprits, police added.
