Sambalpur, Oct 25 (UNI) Over 300 employees of private sector company Tata Refractories Ltd(TRL) at Belpahar in Jharsuguda district, were stranded for more than 24 hours inside the factory premises due to a flash strike by a group of workers.
The employees remained confined inside the factory from yesterday morning to this morning, as the workers did not allow any one to go in or come out of the factory.
Company sources said trouble broke out after the management disagreed to the workers' demand for withdrawal of the suspension order of one Rajkishore Rout.
Rout was placed under suspension as part of disciplinary action, after he attacked one P K Patra, a senior officer of the factory on October 20 last.
The agitating workers demanded to know the reason behind his suspension as well as the withdrawal of the order and when the authorities did not agree, they blocked the main gate at the beginning of the B-shift. As a result, workers working in the A-shift remained stranded within the premises till this morning.
Jharsuguda Additional District Magistrate (ADM) held a meeting of the management and the workers in a bid to resolve the issue.
