AP to pressurise Centre on paddy MSP: CM
Eluru, October 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government will exert pressure on the Centre to fix Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy at Rs 1,000 per quintal similar to wheat.
Speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating a lift irrigation project at Tadipudi, he said the government would seek fixing of MSP for groundnut and cotton also. Efforts would be made to enhance MSP of various crops by at least 50 per cent.
The project would irrigate 60,000 acres of land and it would be raised to two lakh acres in the next year.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited Rs 33 crore Outfall Sluice across Kovvada Hill Stream.
AICC General Secretary In charge of party affairs in the state M Veerappa Moily lauded Dr Reddy's efforts in the Jalayagnam (irrigation) schemes.
