AFMS Short Service Commission officers tenure extended
New Delhi, Oct 25 (UNI) The Government today extended the tenure of short service commissioned (SSC) officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) from 10 years to 14 years.
With the result, they will be entitled to promotions applicable to permanent commissioned officers.
''This will help mitigate shortage of officers in the AFMS,'' Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that took the decision.
It will also bring about parity with the existing time scale promotions available to the permanent commissioned officers and meet the career aspirations of AFMS SSC officers, he said.
