Patna, Oct 24 (UNI) JD(U) today slammed the RJD for organising a rally here on October 28 when more than two crore people of the state affected by flood have yet to recover from its trauma.

It said instead of organising such event, it should have donated the funds being spent for rally, to provide succour to the flood victims.

Party national spokesman Shivanand Tiwari told newspersons here that by organising a rally where people of north Bihar were yet to recover from the devastating effect of flood, RJD had exposed its true face having no concern for poor and downtrodden.

'' Conservative estimate shows that RJD is spending Rs 50 crores for the rally and this huge fund should have been utilised for providing succour to the flood victims'', he remarked.

Citing related data, he said that more than Rs 1332 Crores had been spent in providing relief to flood victims while in the year 2004, the erstwhile RJD government had spent only Rs 179 crores against the relief and that too was marred by flood relief scam in which the then district magistrate of Patna Gautam Goswami was sent to jail.

Mr Tiwari said that devastating flood had damaged infrasructural facilities worth Rs 3000 crores while according to an estimate houses and dwelling units amounting to Rs 990 crores were damaged in the flood fury. With limited resources at its disposal, state government had done a remarkable job in providing succour to the flood victims, he added.

President of Bihar unit of youth wing of Nationalist Congress Party Rana Ranveer Singh alongwith his supporters joined the JD(U) on the occasion.
