Rs 987 cr paid to Haryana farmers for purchase of paddy

Chandigarh, Oct 23 (UNI) Six government procuring agencies have paid Rs 987.41 crore to the farmers for the purchase of their 13.61 lakh tonnes (MTs) of paddy so far.

Of the total purchase, 71 per cent paddy was purchased by the agencies while 29 per cent levy paddy was purchased by the millers, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.

He said 22.62 lakh tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis so far.

He said Food and Supplies Department had made a payment of Rs 314.79 crore for the purchase of 4.34 lakh tonnes of paddy while Hafed had made a payment of Rs 412.75 crore for 5.69 lakh tonnes of paddy.

Agro Industries Corporation disbursed a sum of Rs 126.69 crore for purcahse of 1.74 lakh tonnes of paddy and Confed had provided Rs 100.26 crore for the purchase of 1.38 tonnes.

Haryana Warehousing Corporation had paid Rs 29.43 crore for purchase of 40,594 tonnes of paddy and Food Corporation of India had made the payment of Rs 3.49 crore for the purchase of 4,820 tonnes, he added.
