Over 21 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 22 (UNI) Over 21.77 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far this season.

Stating this, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said six government procuring agencies had procured 13.09 lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far, while the millers have purchased 8.68 lakh MTs.

Mr Mohan said HAFED had procured 5.48 lakh MTs, of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 4.17 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 1.66 lakh MTs, Confed 1.33 lakh MTs, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 38,318 MTs and Food Corporation of India 4,732 MTs.

He said the payment to the farmers was being made within 48 to 72 hours.
