Govt announces 20 pc bonus, ex-gratia to TNEB employees

Chennai, Oct 22 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today announced 20 per cent bonus and ex-gratia to the State Electricity Board (TNEB) employees for Diwali festival.

Talking to newspersons here, Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy said based on the discussions with the various TNEB unions, the Government decided to give 8.33 per cent as bonus and 11.67 per cent ex-gratia to the employees.

This announcement would benefit about 66,006 TNEB employees in the State.

Apart from this, Government also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1000 to about 21,600 contractual employees and 3,466 part-time employees.

Mr Veerasamy said since the Centre had hiked the ceiling of bonus, the 20 per cent limit of bonus and ex-gratia would go up from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,400.

This amount would be given to the employees as an interest-free advance and the TNEB would incur an additional expenditure of Rs 57.95 crore from this year.
