Drive to recover royalty from Ludhiana Brick Kilns

Ludhiana, Oct 22 (UNI) A special campaign to recover the royalty from Brick Kilns has been launched in the district and all Brick Kiln owners have been directed to deposit the pending dues positively by October 30.

In a press released issued here, today, Mining officer and General Manager District Industries Center, Vishav Bandhu has informed that state government charged royalty from all the Brick Kilns, which produce bricks/ tiles since December, 1999.

The Mining Officer said that all the 315 Brick Kilns in the district have to deposit Rs 35 lakh of royalty every year and said there were 100 Brick Kilns which had not deposited the royalty with the department.

He said that royalty was being charged as per the size and capacity of each brick Kiln. He also informed that it was mandatory to get a certificate of sanction from the Mining Department before digging the land for the bricks by every Brick Kiln Owner.

The Brick Kiln Owners had been served with notices under the Act and the field staff of the department had repeatedly requested these Brick Kiln Owners to deposit the royalty.

In case, the defaulter Brick Kiln Owners failed to deposit the balance royalty, then this would be recovered as Land Revenue through the Collector by issuing recovery certificate.
