Ailing housewife beaten to death by Tantrik in Punjab

Sangrur, Oct 22 (UNI) An ailing housewife was allegedly beaten to death by a tantrik in thE presence of her husband in the town last night, police today said.

According to the police the husband Sukhdev Singh used to periodically take ailing wife Balwinder Kaur to the house of Sukhi, a local tantrik. Tantrik use to often beat Balwinder with a iron rod on the pertext of curing her ailment.

Police official stated that Balwinder was beaten so severely by the tantrik yesterday that she died at the tantrik's house.

The husband instead of informing the police cremated his wife's dead body with the assistance of the tantrik and his wife Soma.

The police on the complaint of the victim's brother registered criminal case against Sukhdev Singh, the tantrik and his wife.

The police later arrested Sukhdev Singh while the other two named in the case at still at large.
