Deputy Mayor S S Bajwa dies in Apollo Hospital

New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) Deputy Mayor S S Bajwa, admitted to the Apollo hospital yesterday in a critical condition after he fell down from the terrace of his house in East Delhi, died this morning, family sources said.

He was 52 and is survived by his wife and two sons.

Mr Bajwa fell from the first floor of his house in Savita Vihar yesterday morning when the sudden appearance of a few monkeys there resulted in him backing off. Mr Bajwa was admitted to Apollo hospital with head and other injuries.

He was in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital and put on a ventilator. The death occurred this morning.

The cremation will be held at Nigambodh Ghat in the city at 1600 hours today, an MCD spokesperson said.

All MCD institutions, except hospitals, will remain closed tomorrow as a mark of respect to Mr Bajwa, the spokesperson said.
