''The core values of honesty, integrity and respect for Human rights should always be kept in mind while discharging our duties, especially in strife torn areas of the country,'' Mr Joshi said in his address to ITBP officers on the occasion of Police Commemmoration Day.
Speaking at a function at the ITBP 'Shaheed Smarak' at Tigri campus, the DG exhorted all police officers to rededicate themselves to the unity and integrity of the country so that we can come out stronger.
Earlier, Mr Joshi led ITBP officers in paying homage to the personnel of various police forces who laid down their life in the course of duty.
The day is observed every year on October 21 in memory of the CRPF personnel who laid their lives in an encounter with the Chinese Patrol on the same day in 1959 at hot spring in Ladakh.
The post, located at an altitude of 14422 feet, is now manned by the ITBP.
