Strict action against bio-medical waste dumpers: Ramadoss

Mumbai, Oct 20 (UNI) Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Anbumani Ramadoss today said the government will take strict action against foreign companies found dumping bio-medical waste in India.

Speaking at the Smt Priyamvada Devi Birla Oration Award function here today, Dr Ramadoss said, ''I have received information about foreign companies dumping bio-medical waste in Kerala, and we are verifying the same.'' He said that if the reports are true, the matter will be taken up at the highest level and action taken against the guilty.

The Union Minister also expressed unhappiness over the measures adopted within the country to dispose bio-medical waste. ''I am not satisfied with the steps taken by the state governments in disposing bio-medical waste, especially in Maharashtra,'' he added.
