Stir demanding change of I-Day, pension, welfare schemes

Puducherry, Oct 20 (UNI) The French India Puducherry 'Pradesa Viduthalaikaala Makkal Nala Narppani Iyakkam (PVMNNI)' will embark on a relay fast on the beach road here on October 22 to press their demands.

President of the movement D.Sivaraj in a release here today said the demands included, among other things, celebrating November 1 as Puducherry Independence Day instead of August 16 and provision of pension and welfare schemes to the people who opted for Indian citizenships and lost French nationality and pension.

PVMNNI id a movement striving for the cause of the people of Puducherry who opted for Indian citizenship at the time of liberation from French colonialism.
