Mumbai, Oct 20 (UNI) The investigating officer in the Pramod Mahajan murder case today admitted before the court that there was no signature of the ''panch'' in the ''panchanama'' documents pertaining to accused Pravin Mahajan's vehicle.
Replying to a query by defence advocate Harshad Ponda, the witness said he had conducted the ''panchanama'' of Pravin Mahajan's vehicle, but the signature of the ''panch'' is not there in the documents.
The witness, while deposing before the court of additional sessions judge S P Davare, said he had started recording the statement of the accused at 12:15 hours on April 22, last year. The investigating officer told the court that he had not asked a single question to the accused before that.
The investigating officer said he had seized three mobile phones from the accused but had not checked sent or received, messages in phones.
Earlier, the prosecution had submitted an application on behalf of the dean of the P D Hinduja Hospital saying he was unable to depose before the court today. The judge allowed the dean's cross examination to be held on Tuesday.
