Opposition party leaders arrested in AP
Hyderabad, Oct 20: Police arrested Andhra Pradesh opposition leaders when they tried to enter the premises of the State Legislative Assembly today to stage a dharna, demanding an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy.
Police said the arrested leaders included CPI state Secretary K Narayana, TDP MLA Narendar Reddy and state Farmers Association leader Ramakrishna.
The activists of the BSP, Lok Satta and the BJP were also arrested while they were trying to enter the assembly premises.
Meanwhile, additional security was deployed at the assembly to prevent any untoward incidents, police added.
