One killed in Shimla as auto falls in gorge

Shimla, Oct 20 (UNI) One person was killed and another injured after their auto fell into a gorge at Khaneri in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh last night, police sources said today.

The accident occurred at Khaneri, about 135 km from here, at about 2100 hrs last night, while the auto was on its way to Shaneri from Rampur in the district.

The sources said auto driver, identified as Rajinder Singh, 32, died on the spot, while another person, identified as Ramesh Kumar, 38, was injured after the three-wheeler fell into a 400 metre gorge.

The injured has been admitted to a government hospital at Khaneri where the doctors described his condition stable, the sources said.

Rajinder's body was handed over to relatives after post mortem examination, the sources said, adding that the cause of the accident was not known.
