More rainfall in Manipur, flood continues to affect life

Imphal, Oct 20: Floods continued to affect life in Manipur for the fourth consecutive day following heavy rainfall today.The local Met office recorded about 19 mm rainfall today.

Official sources here said that the water levels of the rivers had not increased much and the flood was almost brought under control, except in some places at Imphal East.

Meanwhile, the Manipur University at Canchipur continued to be inundated by flood water and schools and government offices at Imphal East were also affected.

The diversion of the flood water caused flooding of agricultural lands, officials added.

It was estimated that about 25,000 families might be affected by the floods so far, the sources added. UNI
