Custody death: Police station vandalised

Indore, Oct 20: An agitated mob today vandalised Heeranagar police station in the city and set ablaze vehicles parked at its premises following the death of a 27-year-old youth in the police custody.

His relatives alleged Ghanshyam, detained in a theft case, was severely beaten up in custody.

Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav said that the Station House Officer and two other police officials had been suspended in connection with the custody death. The district authorities ordered a magisterial inquiry in this regard.

Ghanshyam's condition worsened after he was brought to the police station last night and he was rushed to the local M Y hospital, where he died.

Additional police personnel, who were rushed to the police station this morning, brought the situation under control, Mr Yadav said.
