Youths imitate TV serial to murder two car drivers

Bangalore, Oct 19 (UNI) The city police arrested four youth, including a minor, on charges of murdering two car drivers to rob cars.

DCP Sharat Chandra told newspersons here today that the four, identified as Ravi (25), Santosh (20), Babu (19) and Soma (17), were obsessed with the idea of zipping across the city roads in cars.

They hatched plans to kill the two drivers during the last three months taking the idea from a TV serial.

Early this week, they hired a car for going to a tourist spot in Chamarajanagar district. They offered the driver liquor laced with sedatives and strangled him to death and robbed the vehicle.

They adopted the same modus operandi and killed another car driver in August. They threw both the bodies into Cauvery river and robbed the vehicle.

Joint Police Commissioner Gopal Hosur exhorted the car rental owners to identify those who came to hire their services.
