TNCC condemns Jaya for casting aspersions on TN CM, Stalin

Chennai, Oct 19 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnaswamy today condemned AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa for making an irresponsible statement that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin were conspiring to murder her.

In a statement here, he said it was totally irresponsible on the part of the AIDAMK leader to say that her well wishers had passed on the information about the conspiracy to her.

Ms Jayalalithaa, who had been the Chief Minister of the State for ten years, should have some basic evidence, while levelling such serious charges, ''but as usual, she had levelled the charge without any evidence.'' Mr Krishnaswamy said the AIADMK legislators should hang their heads in shame for their unruly behaviour in the house, when Mr Stalin moved a breach of privilege case against Ms Jayalalithaa.

''The TNCC condemns their unruly behaviour and the act of one of the members, throwing the cap of a watch and ward staff at the Speaker'', he said.

The Chief Minister's offer to provide more security to the AIADMK leader, if she wanted, showed his faith in democracy, the Congress leader said.

In democracy, the ruling party and the opposition were the two sides of a coin and if any one side gets weakened, it would not augur well for the democracy, he added.
