Fire guts Puja pandal in South Delhi, no one injured
New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) A fire broke out in a Durga Puja pandal in Chittaranjan Park area of South Delhi in the wee hours today, and destroyed major parts of it.
However, no one was injured in the incident.
As the incident happened at around O4OO hrs, not many people were present at the pandal.
The neighbouring houses and the vehicles near the pandal were also not affected, sources said.
Fire officials said eight fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was doused in half an hour.
A Puja Committee member said the pandal was almost gutted and the deity had to immersed and the 'Ashtami' puja performed after the installation of a new diety.
