Walia asks Distcoms to issue laminated I Cards to employees

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) Delhi Power Minister A K Walia today asked Chief Executive Officers of all the three Distribution Companies to issue Identity Cards to employees, who will visit consumers for meter reading and other duties.

''This practice would help in overcoming entry of suspicious persons into the premises of electricity consumers and put an end to ongoing corruption and middleman culture,'' Dr Walia said.

The Minister asked the Distcoms to expedite the process proividing laminated Photo Identity cards to the staff.

''It has been observed that the Identity Cards being used presently have merely been issued by certain agencies which have been mentioning that person is on duty of a Distcom. The present Identity Cards are not laminated one and there is no scope of their proper display by the staff,'' he added.
