TN Govt hikes temple maintenance grant
Chennai, Oct 18 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has decided to enhance the grant for temple maintenance from Rs 75 lakh to Rs three crore.
The decision was taken during a discussion of a high-level committee of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department here.
The meeting, presided over by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, also discussed measures to expedite pending cases and hand over aged temple elephants to the Forest Department for upkeep.
It has also decided to enhance temple revenue by making optimal use of temple lands and rationalising rental income from tenants.
