Three succumb to pneumonia-like fever in Assandh

Karnal, Oct 18 (UNI) A mysterious fever akin to pneumonia that has claimed three young lives, including that of a girl, in Assandh sub- division of the district, about 40 km from here.

Nasib Singh, 16, of Markdankhera village who had been treated in a private hospital was rushed to Assandh Civil Hospital after his condition deteriorated. He however, died within hours of admission.

Rajesh, 15, of Chochra village was also referred to Civil Hospital Karnal, but died on his way to hospital yesterday.

Pooja, 12, of Salvan village succumbed to the pneumonia-like fever in the Assandh Civil hospital last evening.

Officiating Civil Surgeon (CMO) Naresh Saini, when contacted on phone, claimed the disease was a "due to change in weather. It was not an outbreak of any worrisome disease''.
