Kochi, Oct 18 (UNI) To meet the growing demands of construction and infrastructure companies, Tata Motors today launched the 'Tata LPK 909' tipper in the Intermediate Commercial Vehicle (ICV) segment.

Talking to the media here, Commercial Vehicles Vice-President Ravi Pisharody said ''the infrastructure segment is growing at a rapid rate resulting in a strong requirement for products at every point of payload spectrum. The new vehicle fills a prevailing need-gap.'' The new vehicle available in three variants-- Heavy Duty, Light Duty and Cab Chassis -- comes in the price range of Rs 6.98 lakh and Rs 8.90 lakh.

The tipper comes with power steering and clutch booster and has LCRV airbrakes for maximum safety, he claimed.

''As Kerala has the largest market for tipper lorries in the country, we found it appropriate to first introduce the vehicle in the state and later launch it in other parts of the country,'' Mr Pisharody added.

He said the company sold around three lakh commercial vehicles in the last financial year with Kerala accounting for 7,000 to 8,000 units.
