Tata Consultancy secures Nielsen contract

New Delhi, Oct 18: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, country's largest IT services provider, today said it has signed a 1.2 billion dollars contract with Nielsen Company to provide IT services to Nielsen's worldwide operations.

The 10-year agreement is for Tata Consultancy to outsource a portion of latter's Information Technology (IT) and operations functions worldwide, a statement said.

Tata Consultancy, a part of Tata Group, will also handle some of Nielsen's finance and human resource business process, it said.

''The Nielsen engagement showcases our domain knowledge and our ability to manage and execute complex transformation engagements across the globe. It highlights the level of strategic engagement that TCS enjoys with global customers like The Nielson Company,'' company's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director S Ramadorai said.

Under the agreement, Tata Consultancy will take direct responsibility for a Nielsen team based in Baroda in the western state of Gujarat which provides retail measurement services, it said.

Nielsen Company provides a wide range of global services, including television and internet audience measurement, insight and analysis of consumer behaviour for the packaged goods and retail Industries, services to clients in print, online and mobile media services, entertainment, books, video and the music industries, and is a major provider of business publications and trade shows.
