Section 144 clamped in Ayodhya and Faizabad on festivals

Ayodhya, Oct 18 (UNI) In order to maintain peace in this festive season, prohibitory orders, under section 144 have been imposed in the sensitive Ayodhya and Faizabad cities till November 30, Additional District magistrate (city) Divya Prakash Giri today said.

''Prohibitory orders have been imposed to maintain law and order in view of the festivals of Durga Puja, Dusshera and Deepawali,'' Mr Giri said.

During this period, bursting of crackers near hospitals, educational institutes, courts and other religious spots are restricted.

Besides, carrying weapons and standing in groups would also be prohibited.

Stern action would be taken on violation of the rule, he warned.
