Pondy to launch innovation in agriculture to save water

Puducherry,Oct 18 (UNI) The Puducherry Administration would introduce innovative methods in agriculture to ensure judicious use of water, Agriculture Minister V Vaithilingam said today.

Inaugurating a conference of the CPI-affiliated Agriculturists Association at Vilianur, near here, the Minister said the administration proposed to introduce precision farming for which 90 per cent subsidy would be provided to the farmers.A sum of Rs three crore had been earmarked for the purpose.

Mr Vaithilingam also said the administration would soon start two more 'Uzhavar Sandais' (farmers' market) at Ariyankuppam and Mudaliarpet.
