Kidwai asks docs to update their knowledge regularly

Chandigarh, Oct 18 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today advised the medical fraternity to update their medical knowledge regularly in view of speedy changes taking place in the medical sciences.

Speaking at the book release ceremony of 'Hypertension Update' edited by Dr M L Bansal at Press Club today, the Governor praised the Current Medical Journal of India for doing a great service to medical profession and humanity by updating their knowledge about the speedy changes taking place in medical sciences.

The book covers all aspects of the disorder ranging from measurement of blood pressure to diagnosis and management of complications.

Dr Kidwai said few years ago nobody could imagine that stem cells could be used for treating the damaged heart and kidney.

''Now science had made so much advancement that it is able to know the functioning of each gene of the body and how it could be treated.'' The Governor asked medical professionals to acquaint people about the methods to prevent diseases and lead a healthy life. They should educate people about the causes and prevention of diseases and what diet, exercises or habits they should follow to remain hale and hearty.

He remarked that with the advancement of medical sciences the life span of human beings had increased.

On this occasion, the Governor also awarded doctors for their services to the ailing humanity.
