Chennai, Oct 18 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today urged the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker to revoke the suspension of her party members for the rest of the session.

Taking exception to the en masse eviction of the AIADMK members and suspending them for the rest of the session, Ms Jayalalithaa, in a statement here, said the Speaker should revoke the suspension and allow her party members to take part in the proceedings, which would help to foster democracy.

She said the AIADMK members were fully justified in raising the issue of threat to her life, when a man intruded into her residence two days ago.

''It is the democratic duty of the AIADMK members to raise the issue and protest against the scaling down of my security,'' she asserted.

Ms Jayalalithaa claimed the AIADMK members were deliberately suspended for the rest of the brief monsoon session as the ruling DMK did not want them to participate in the Assembly proceedings, when the House was scheduled to discuss about some Bills, replacing Ordinances.

As some of the Bills were anti-people, the DMK government feared that the AIADMK members would expose it, she alleged.

By suspending the members of the main Opposition, the DMK wanted to pass the Bills without any opposition,'' Ms Jayalalithaa added.
