Jammu, Oct 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Jammu, has adjourned till November 5 the hearing on 1200 MW Sawlakote Power Project here, sources today said.

Justice J P Singh, hearing the petition filed by a consortium of the Spas Norway, Qzatin of Turkey and Hindustan Construction against Jammu and Kashmir state and others, will further hear the arguments of petioners on november 5, the sources said.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi continued his arguments on the second day yesterday after which the Judge adjourned the hearing.

The consortium of the Spas Norway, Qzatin of Turkey and Hindustan Construction had knocked the doors of court after the state government unilaterally cancelled their tender for Sawlakote Power Project without affording them an oppurtunity of being heard.

Subsequently the state government had decided to float fresh 'global' tender. But, in November 2006, the state High Court restrained it, besides directing the Chief Engineer Power Development Corporation to maintain the status-quo as it exists today till the next date of hearing.
