GBs, DBs appeal to shun violence in Nagaland

Kohima, Oct 18 (UNI) The Joint Forum of the Kohima District Gaon Burahs Association (GBs) and Kohima District Do-Bhasis Association (DBs) today took out a rally here asking all underground factions to stop violence.

Members of the GBs and DBs gathered at the MLA Hostel Junction and marched to the Indoor stadium, where they convened a meeting on their demand of peace throughout the state.

Speakers, including Nagaland Additional Chief Secretary T.N.

Mannen, emphasised the need of permanent peace and appealed to all underground factions to stop violence, including inter-factional killings.

Mr K.Vikuto Zhimo, president, GB federation, Nagaland, said owing to continued violence, the Nagas were not secure even in homes.

''Earlier Nagas were asking for peace from the Government of India, but now they are seeking it among themselves,'' he said.

Kohima Deputy Commissioner Sachopra Vero appealed to the GBs and DBs to help the civil administration by providing all information, including the movement of rebels to provide a smooth and secured administration to the people.
