Chandigarh, Oct 18 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has today declared Mayond Kalan village in its Operation Circle, Hisar as cent per cent compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) village under its ongoing campaign for energy conservation.

A DHBVN spokesman said in village Mayond Kalan, out of 126 residents, 124 have metered regular power connections. He said DHBVN officials had campaigned door to door in this village and persuaded the residents to replace traditional yellow bulbs with the energy efficient CFLs.

To replace all power guzzler bulbs with CFLs, the residents had purchased 220 CFLs from the Nigam official.

With the replacement of all yellow bulbs with CFLs, the load on two transformers of 100 KVA and 63 KVA capacity had been reduced from 124 ampere to 106 ampere and from 77 ampere to 41 ampere respectively.

He said that with the installation of CFLs in the consumers premises, capacity of two electricity distribution transformers feeding this village had been sufficient to meet the future load.

Now the problem in the electricity supply had been reduced, he added.
