Shimla, Oct 18 (UNI) A Congress leader from Chopal assembly constituency of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh today staked his claim for contesting the state assembly elections.

Addressing mediapersons here, he alleged that Chopal has been continuously deprived of the real representation as the party is consistently giving ticket to outsiders who do not belong to the area.

''I am applying for the Congress ticket fifth time, but if party continues to ignore my candidature and prefers the person who is not the resident of the Chopal constituency, every other option is open for me,'' he said.

Dr Dhanveer, a retired professor of Agricultural Economics, said that the people of the constituency were feeling cheated as the current local MLA has miserably failed to solve their basic problems.

''The present MLA does not know the definition of development.

The condition of the three tribal constituency is better than the Chopal constituency,'' he said.

''Whatever the conditions, the people of the constituency are with me and I will definitely fight assembly elections for their pride under any circumstances,'' he added.
