ABB secures Rs 512 cr orders from JSW group

New Delhi, Oct 18 (UNI) ABB Ltd today said it has received Rs 512 crore orders from JSW and its associated companies to provide turnkey power and automation solutions for their steel and power plant projects.

The projects, expected to be commissioned by 2009, include Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP) solutions for their 8x135 MW power generation facility in Rajasthan and a 300 MW power plant being set up in Bellary, Karnataka.

Other systems and equipment include transformers, substations, electronic drives as well as a range of medium and low voltage switchgear and electricals.

''We have a long-standing relationship with the JSW Group and have worked with them on several steel projects. ABB's power and automation technologies will go a long way in enabling efficiency and productivity at JSW's world-class facilities,'' ABB India Country Manager-cum-Managing Director Biplab Majumdar said.

JSW, a part of the fast growing six billion dollars O P Jindal Group, in the process of enhancing its steel capacity from 3.8 to 10 mpa (million tonnes per annum) by 2010, supported by a build up of its power generation capability.
