Five
labourers
were
killed
and
28
others
injured,
five
seriously,
when
a
truck
ferrying
workers
for
the
Chief
Minister's
function
overturned
on
Ghatia-Jhot
road
in
Tamia
block
of
this
district
today,
police
said.
A group of tendu leaf pluckers from Jhotkala village was being ferried for a function at Damua near Junnardeo, where Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was scheduled to distribute bonus to them, when they met with the accident.
The driver lost balance in the Ghat section and the vehicle overturned killing five people, including four women, on the spot. The seriously injured were being brought to the government hospital here. The overturned truck was yet to be lifted, police added.
