UT to provide free books to SC, ST students of govt colleges

Chandigarh, Oct 17 (UNI) Chandigarh Administration has decided to provide free books and stationaries to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students in all the seven government colleges in the city.

As per the scheme being implemented by the Department of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, 1,050 students would be provided free books and stationaries in the year 2007-08.

An expenditure of Rs 2.50 lakh will be incurred for the purpose for which a budgetary allocation has already been made.
